France – Italy – Spain

GINKGO is a European Erasmus+ project bringing together eight academic and professional partners from Spain, Italy, and France. Its aim is to prevent social isolation among older adults by encouraging their active participation through a community-based and reflective approach.

As part of this initiative, documentary videos are currently being produced. They gather testimonials from older adults and professionals working in the field. These productions are not only communication tools but also serve educational and analytical purposes, providing resources for awareness-raising, training, and social analysis.

Life Story is one of the central methodologies of the project. Recognizing each individual’s life journey, knowledge, and experiences allows them to be seen as a full actor in their own development and community engagement.

This approach fosters empathy, challenges stereotypes associated with aging, and strengthens the autonomy of older adults within a participatory and transformative perspective.

  • In Spain, two videos have been produced focusing on the Jubiloteca service, a key resource for promoting active aging and supporting the autonomy of older adults in rural areas.
  • In France, we highlighted Gurekin, an association that develops shared housing for older adults experiencing social isolation.
  • Finally, in Italy, we interviewed the actors of Sollievo, a home-care service run in partnership with local social services. This initiative provides support to family caregivers by offering respite through scheduled interventions tailored to the needs of their loved ones.

The videos will be available soon. A big thank you to our participants, who became actors for a day.
